Sports Equipment

Heat and Inclement Weather

Our multi-sport camp is primarily an outdoor camp however, Strathcona Park is well-shaded as compared to other nearby and surrounding parks.
During the day, children are constantly monitored for dehydration and exhaustion. The intensity of activity is kept in accordance with the heat and breaks are frequent and mandatory however, we will have water available if they run out but please ensure your child brings a water bottle to camp.
Additionally, we have chosen to partner with both St. Raphael Church as well as Little Goobers play place nearby for use of their facilities for our camps this summer. Both facilities are air conditioned and offer ample room for fun, play and breaks for lunch and snacks as well as cover from inclement weather conditions.

Swimming
Campers who choose to swim in the afternoon will do so under the care and supervision of KidsPlay staff in addition to city staff and lifeguards at the public pool. We adhere to strict guidelines set out by the City of Burlington.(see below)
Campers not choosing to swim have the option to cool off at the splash pad or play their favourite sports or play interactive team games like Capture the Flag, King of the Hill, Elephant and more!

Swimming Guidelines:
Children 6 years of age and under will be directly supervised (within arms’ reach) at all times by a camp counselor regardless of swimming ability.
Children 7 through 10 years of age must successfully complete the Facility Swim Test (2 uninterrupted widths of the pool) before they may swim without direct supervision (within arm’s reach) of a camp counselor.
Regardless of swimming ability, children 7 through 10 will be accompanied in the facility (maintaining visual contact) by a camp counselor.
