Coach David – Athlete, Coach, Biggest kid you’ll ever meet…
Born and raised in Burlington, Coach David’s lifelong interest in sports is only matched by his desire in working and promoting active lifestyles for kids. In high school, Coach David played football, soccer, basketball, volleyball, badminton, wrestled and played for the rugby team, (later coaching both junior girl’s and boy’s teams there). His talents in rugby took him to the Provincial and National level and would eventually take him to Scotland where he played semi-professionally for two years.
Lauren Mazzuca is a dynamic sports educator with six years of experience at KidsPlay Sports, specializing in baseball and rugby. With a passion for working with kids, she skillfully combines her love for these sports and her coaching prowess to encourage children's active lifestyles. Lauren utilizes her personal sports experience to simplify complex game strategies, promoting understanding and fostering growth in teamwork, discipline, and resilience. Her approachability and enthusiasm make learning an engaging and enjoyable experience for young athletes. Lauren is not just a coach, but a mentor who inspires sportsmanship and love for the game in a new generation.
Ethan is an accomplished soccer player who began his journey in high-level academy soccer at age 4, culminating in trials at European club AC Milan. His experience includes significant time at Sigma FC Academy and multiple NCAA Division I, II, and III offers from reputable institutions like Vermont University and Georgia Southern University. He also played professionally for the Toronto Men's Player futsal club from 2017-2019. Beyond his player career, Ethan transitioned into coaching, offering private one-on-one sessions since 2020. He served at Burlington SC Academy in 2019 and spent five fruitful years at KidsPlay Sports from 2018-2023. Ethan's career showcases his dedication to the sport and commitment to developing the next generation of soccer talent.
Jacob Smiley, an energetic sport management professional, has been an integral part of KidsPlay Sports since 2019. He graduated from Niagara College, earning an Ontario College Advanced Diploma in Sport Management, equipping him with the requisite skills to enhance children's sporting experiences. His academic background, coupled with his hands-on experience at KidsPlay, has allowed him to leverage the best practices in sports education and management to foster an engaging, interactive, and growth-oriented environment for young athletes. Jacob's deep-rooted passion for sports and his commitment to nurturing the next generation of athletes is evident in his work, making him a valuable asset to the KidsPlay team. He continues to drive his mission of introducing children to the joys of sports while instilling in them the core values of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance.
